10 Must-Read Nutrition Articles: A “Back to Basics” Review

March is National Nutrition Month, an annual campaign organized by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

The goal is to educate people to make informed food choices and develop sound eating habits.

Here at UCDIM, we feel this is necessary information for EVERY single month, not just for March.

Throughout the year, we could all use some guidance on how to put our best nutritional foot forward and make sense of conflicting messages about proper diet.

To help you out, we have rounded up 10 “back to basics” nutrition articles that focus on two main topics: essentials and practical tips.

Seven of the articles are essentials because they describe fundamental components of diet that impact our health, i.e. amino acids, fatty acids, and vitamins.

The remaining three articles focus on practical tips and concrete ideas on how to follow a whole food, plant-based diet through the understanding of key concepts such as calorie density and how to read a food label correctly.
