Three Bean BBQ Salad

Chef Stefen Janke’s Three Bean BBQ Salad is simple to make and will be an excellent protein-packed salad for your next plant-based summer cookout. The recipe features a mixture of black, white and pinto beans with a little crunch from sweet onion, bell pepper and celery, and an added kick from oil-free BBQ sauce and Dijon mustard.


  • 1/2 cup sweet onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup oil-free BBQ sauce
  • 1 celery stock, diced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 (15-ounce) can white beans, drained and rinsed
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • PREP TIME 10
  • Serves 6-8


  1. Mix onion, celery and red bell pepper and beans in a large bowl. Add BBQ sauce and Dijon mustard then toss to combine.
