Homemade Hummus
You will never believe how easy it is to make your own healthful and flavorful oil-free Homemade Hummus! We include instructions for Classic Hummus, but also five variations including Harrisa and Mint Hummus, Artichoke and Rosemary Hummus, Spicy Hummus, Sweet Potato Hummus, and Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus. Try them as a dip for vegetables and whole wheat crackers, or use your favorite as a spread on our Hummus Veggie Wrap.
Ingredients
- 1: Classic Hummus
- 1/3 cup tahini*
- 2 (15-ounce) cans chickpeas, drained**
- 2 cloves garlic
- 6 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 to 3 tablespoons chickpea bean liquid (aquafaba)
- 2: Harrisa and Mint Hummus
- 1 Classic Hummus Recipe
- 1 tablespoon harrisa
- Chopped mint to garnish
- 3: Artichoke and Rosemary Hummus
- 1 Classic Hummus Recipe
- 1/2 cup artichoke hearts
- Chopped rosemary to garnish
- 4: Spicy Hummus
- 1 Classic Hummus Recipe
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon smoked chipotle
- 5: Sweet Potato Hummus
- 1/2 cup chickpea liquid (aquafaba)
- 1 sweet potato, cooked
- 1 (15-ounce) can chickpeas, drained**
- 1 clove garlic
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon tahini*
- 6: Sun Dried Tomato Hummus
- 1/2 cup sun-dried tomato puree
- 1/3 cup tahini*
- 2 15-ounce cans chickpeas, drained**
- 2 cloves garlic
- 6 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 to 3 tablespoons chickpea liquid (aquafaba)
Directions
- Mince the peeled garlic to a fine paste.
- In a food processor, add chickpeas and tahini. Start by pulsing a few times then scrape the sides down.
- Add remaining ingredients and puree. Adjust consistency with aquafaba until smooth.
Note: *Tahini can be left out for a lower fat variation of the recipe. **Set liquid (aquafaba) aside.
