Agriculture: Food for Life

This week, we celebrate the 46th annual National Ag Day!

Observed on March 14th, this event is organized by the Agriculture Council of America and has several goals:

  • avocadoTo help Americans understand how food and fiber products are produced.
  • To raise awareness and appreciation about the role agriculture plays in our society and economy.
  • To encourage youth to consider careers in the agriculture industry.

As we mentioned in our article Eat Like You Care – How Your Diet Affects More Than Just You, our dietary choices impact everything from human health to the well-being of animals and the environment.

By choosing whole plant foods, you can support agriculture and help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save water, and decrease the use of fossil fuels.

The 2019 theme for National Ag Day is “Agriculture: Food for Life,” which serves as a reminder of the importance of fruits, veggies, whole grains, and legumes to our health and lives.

We honor this holiday with a list of recipes that ‘celebrate food that celebrates life.’

Enjoy and Happy National Ag Day!
